Since September 2010 Murakami has exhibited some of his works at the Palace of Versailles. This is the Oval Buddha Gold and is the only one which can be seen in the gardens. The statue is 5 meters high.

That’s a very interesting sculpture. Thanks so much for sharing your shot.
I think it is odd. Memorable, but odd. Thanks for sharing!
I like Muakami’s creative spirit
Lovely statue, I guess one need standing next to it to understand how tall it really is. Seems it fits nicely in the park. Thanks for showing
What an interesting juxtaposition of the old and new. I love Versailles, and think it’s a nice move to show contemporary art there. Thanks for the link to Murakami’s wikipedia page; it helped the sculpture make more sense to me!
I totally agree with you. Yet showing contemporary art in Versailles has proved to be very controversial. A bit silly since none of the works exhibited will stay there for ever.
What a neat sculpture. I looked through my photos folder, but all my recent pics are of Chanuka. I guess I haven’t been inspired by much recently.
If I didn’t have a smart phone I would have run out recent photos too.
You don’t see that color everyday
wow that is an impressive statue!
Interesting…happy SOC Sunday.
What a great photo shot. Visiting your blog always makes me feel like I learned something new, culturally, and educational.
I could totally go for one of those in my yard. That is, if I had a yard.
What a nice capture of light and contrasts.
I forgot to mention that I love the new look. I have to create a new one for myself for the upcoming new year.
I love it too!
Brilliant juxtaposition of old and new. I took a look at the link and loved the Flower Matango piece in the Hall of Mirrors. Thank you for sharing this.
