If you enjoyed last year’s post about my students’ heroes, you may wish to see who their heroes are this year.
- Coluche, he was a French comedian and actor. He is remembered for the Restos du Cœur – the charitable organisation he created – whose main activity is to distribute food packages and hot meals to the needy. (5 students)
- Martin Luther King Jr (4 students)
- Christopher Columbus
- Albert Einstein
- Michael Jackson
- Kelly Slater
- Two soccer players: Zinedine Zidane and Lionel Messi
- Mustafa Kemal Atatürk
- Barack Obama
- Neil Armstrong
- Frederik de Klerk
- Winston Churchill
- Nelson Mandela
- Charlie Chaplin
- Lady Diana
- Rosa Parks
- Emmeline Pankhurst
Another interesting and eclectic list. (I admit that I had to look up 2 or 3 of the names.) Thanks for sharing it.
I had never heard of the surfer!
I just talked to my daughter briefly about Rosa Parks this morning, in reference to what is going on with the buses in Israel (as a possible way to distract her teacher and talk about Martin Luther King instead of the usual whatever). But she had no idea what I was talking about and she really did need to get to school.
The choice of Coluche sounds impressive…
I like your diversion strategy!
I am not sure why so many students have chosen Coluche.
The list impresses me. What does surprise me is seeing Christopher Columbus’ name on it.
I have not read this essay so I don’t really know why this student admires him.
Rosa Parks!!! She’s my hero! Seriously. It’s Facebook official. Also did your students know it was MLK Jr day yesterday in the US?
The work was handed back in last Friday and I don’t think they knew MLK Jr day was so close. I like Rosa Parks too and used to teach about her.
Fascinating list! Ecclectic, that’s for sure!
I must admit I was surprised by some of them.
Emmeline Pankhurst – fantastic!
Probably one of the most unexpected heroes.
